This is the GUI development position in a team of embedded developers dedicated to ongoing development and support of the D400 Product line for Smart Substation business. This person will take direction from a Technical Lead and work with Global team. This position carries the responsibility for the development and maintenance of all D400 GUI applications at the HTC location.
Essential Responsibilities
--Work jointly with integrated GE DE Hyderabad and Canada team
-Contribute to the design of GUI applications as specified by the requirements with a focus on cost-effective and maintainable solutions
- Design , Implement and test GUI designs
-Collaborate with QA to develop and execute detailed test plans
-Manage and maintain D400 GUI source code and development systems
-Proactively make recommendations to improve product robustness, performance, usability and maintainability of product
-Review product documentation and user manuals
-Ensure accuracy of implementation and timeliness of delivered assignments
-Supervise and monitor the work of other GUI developers that may be employed to address peak work loads
-Work closely with other members of the D400 team to guarantee complete integration and support for D400 Software and Hardware and to assure product’s integrity and safety
-Develop conceptual designs and detailed designs in accordance with established engineering processes, submit design code for reviews, update the designs as required as a result from reviews
Qualifications/Requirements:
-Masters /Bachelors degree in engineering or computer science or Electrical with 3+ yrs of experience
• Extensive experience with XML and schema development
• Experience in the following areas:
- Linux
- Apache
- Web applications and Web services
- Client/Server architecture
- C++, and Java
- Java Applets, Pearl, and Common Gateway Interface (CGI)
- JAX-RPC and Castor
- SQL
-Detailed knowledge of XML including experience in designing XML schemas and using XML to interface between multiple applications/repositories
-Detailed knowledge of Object Oriented programming and design
-Proven experience developing HMIs for complex embedded systems
-Well-developed problem solving skills with proven ability for root-cause analysis
-Resourceful self-starter with demonstrated proactive work style; willing to take ownership of difficult issues and show persistence in resolving them
-Excellent written and verbal English communication skills (candidate will communicate with remote team by phone and email)
-Strong understand of SDLC process and knowledge on Agile/XP is a plus.

-Experience with effort estimation, schedule development, maintenance and reporting
-Rational tools such as RequisitePro,
-Experience with installation tools such as InstallShield, or WISE
-Knowledge of configuration management and version control systems such as VSS or ClearCase
-Knowledge of Power utilities automation protocols such as DNP, UCA and IEC protocols such as 60870-5/101/103/104 and 61850
-Experience using a standard modeling language such as UML
-Knowledge of Windows security, SSL, digital certificates, smartcards, etc.
