Responsible for developing and designing scripts in an IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) environment. Also responsible for Application installation, tuning, JVM (Java Virtual Machine) configuration, Application Root Cause Analysis, and Heap Dump Analysis. Candidate is expected to provide leadership and direction for the WAS environment. Must have specific recent experience with WAS version 6 and 7. Should have experience in both AIX and Red Hat Linux. Should have experience with WAS and LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) integration, system deployments and application upgrades. Should have experience with capacity planning, performance management, and security compliance (Nist 800-53), as well as the tools and processes that monitor the operational status of WAS.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Provide leadership and direction and have expert level knowledge of WAS, configuration and performance management as well system design and implementation architecture to optimize system reliability and performance
– Responsible for developing and designing scripts, procedures, WebPages and programs on the system related to WAS
– Conduct root cause analysis to investigate complex system problems and implement appropriate resolutions
–Create and use tools and processes to perform health checks, generate audit data, and create system documentation.
- Install upgrades and patches to WAS.

Consultants hired into GBS Public Sector will typically be located in an IBM office or at an IBM client site primarily in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. In many cases, relocation to the Washington, DC area is required & is not reimbursable. However, we do have opportunities that require residence in other strategic locations in the USA . While most projects are in the DC metro area, Consultants must be able to travel to projects that are in the DC Metro area and to those projects located outside the local area. Some projects do require up to 100% travel for an extended period of time that is generally < 1 year.
Required
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • At least 2 years experience in as system engineer for WAS in a RHEL and AIX environments
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • English: Fluent

Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology
  • At least 2 years experience in as system engineer for WAS in a RHEL and AIX environments
  • At least 2 years experience in with Oracle (10g and 11g) database, Endeca, ArcGIS
  • At least 2 years experience in  in a large complex heterogeneous environments(AIX, Red Hat Linux, Windows)
  • At least 2 years experience in Java, JavaScript
