VL India plays a significant role in delivering such capabilities by owning end to end and/or partnering with teams in Redmond & Dublin. Core Elements of the Job Test manager, Sr Test lead with Volume licensing is a managerial role encompassing both the aspects of program delivery and people management in a highly matrix organization. This position is responsible for providing overall leadership to the team, setting direction for the team, ensuring all commitments are met and developing strong partnership with other groups, globally. Must possess sound reasoning ability, analytical, and creative skills to investigate systemic problems in order to recommend and implement solutions. Must have passion for quality, strategic insight, impact & influence, & customer-focused thinking. This person will lead a team of individual contributors (ICs) from Test Discipline and Architects. Test manager will manage a team of IT Test Analysts and IT Test Engineers whose goal is to improve product quality by: creating and managing software test plans; writing test cases; and writing testable software specifications from requirements. Building alliance with teams present in other part of the globe will be key. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: People Management: Hiring right talent. Ensuring that people rhythm-of-business activities are completed on time and with a diligence that inspires the team to go an extra mile, stay motivated and deliver programs. Some of these activities are: Career Development Plans, Resource Planning, Training Plans, Performance Reviews, and Rewards. Build organizational strength by recruiting strong talent to fill openings and developing existing team members. Delivery: Ensuring that all programs are delivered with agreed upon business value, on time and highest quality. o Manage a rapidly growing test team of SDETs, managers and leads working on multiple product feature areas. o Drive and contribute to product level test strategy and architecture. o Define the platform quality bar and mechanisms for prevention and earlier detection of SLA issues. o Implement development of shared test infrastructure for platform wide testing o Ensure that all features embody engineering best practices, efficient, scalable architecture elegant design and high quality implementation. o Drive quality process and trustworthy computing initiatives throughout the product lifecycle to eliminate architecture, design and coding defects at the source. o Lead code reviews to ensure consistently high level of design and implementation. o Manage several feature teams working on distinct product feature areas. Business Management: Ensuring that financial targets of the group are met, variances are minimized and reasons for variances are known; business reviews are conducted as per rhythm-of-business. Technology Management: Enabling the team to innovate and create strong partnership with other groups; Risk Management: Ability to manage risks related to people, technology and processes. Job Location This position is based in Hyderabad, India and will report solid line to the Engineering Division leader in Hyderabad and dotted line to Test Leadership in Redmond. The job requires minimal travel, primarily to participate in planning and review discussions with team(s) in USA. Ideal Candidate Ideal candidates will have a strong balance of technical and strategic skills, a proven history of working well across large scale, globally dispersed groups, a strong track record in global delivery and management of services across applications with deep technical and business skills. Demonstrated ability to provide strategic leadership, driving long-range thinking about business and operations strategy and inspiring others to work towards that vision is a must. College degree in Business, Technology (BA or BS preferred), Computer Science or related discipline - equivalent experience acceptable. 12+ years of IT Program management experience effectively delivering and implementation of mission critical business applications /Solutions Proven ability to lead, coach and provide leadership to staff, including development of goals, objectives and performance success criteria. Proven ability in managing core functions of Test of an engineering team & relevant experience with Quality Assurance/Quality Control processes. Demonstrated ability of seeing forest for trees, strategic thinking Self-starter, who can deal with ambiguity, maintains focus, drives to clarity and provides innovative solutions. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and deliver results in a matrix organization Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis in translating technical content for a non-technical management / executive audience. Experience in working with internal / external auditors and senior IT leadership. Proven ability to work under stress in emergencies; flexibility to handle pressure of multiple high priority initiatives and issues. Should be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Expertise in various software Development methodologies like SCRUM, TSP/PSP Experience in dealing with sub-contractors/vendor management is desirable.
