As a result of the Yahoo! and Microsoft Search Alliance, we are creating the ad Center team to go win in the online advertising space as part of the newly formed India Development Center in Bangalore. This team will be responsible for building systems that include massive database infrastructure, relevance algorithms, ad delivery engines, data mining systems, windows clients, web user interfaces etc. The problem space encompasses some of the biggest and most comprehensive problems in Computer Science (Machine Learning, Data Mining, BI, Large Scale Distributed Computing, Service Deployment and Management); Mathematics (Optimizations, Probability Theory); Economics & Business (Auction Theory, Behavioral Targeting). In addition to the technological demands, this is a unique challenge in terms of bridging cultures, organizational design, business acumen and vision setting as we look to refine and deliver on a multi-year vision and mission. The ad Center team in IDC is hiring strong, self-motivated and results driven developers to create a system that will offer an unparalleled value proposition to both search users and advertisers. This is a rare opportunity to be at the epicenter of innovation on the Web and a key influencer of technology decisions for an important growth area at Microsoft. Some examples of the interesting algorithmic and engineering problems being solved by Revenue and Relevance team are- • Running auction algorithms where both revenue and relevance is taken into consideration and choosing the best ads out of hundreds of thousands candidates. • Analyzing the context of ad pages by means of cutting edge information retrieval techniques and determining how relevant the ad content is to the user search query. • Analyze the search query to find the user intent in order to serve better matching ads. • Facilitate ad ranking through running machine learning algorithms on various user, query and ad attributes. • Learn and better initialize the performance of new incumbent ad when very little is known about the ad. • Compare various learning models and find which one will yield the best monetization and relevance. • Effectively partition data and use distributed data processing technologies to mine through terabytes of data in both online and offline systems. Qualification & Experience : A minimum of 4-7 years of development experience Development responsibilities include doing code review / bug analysis, analyzing development and test impacts, writing test tools, and identifying automation opportunities. The qualified candidate should have strong programming, debugging experience, and excellent problem solving skills. Sound knowledge on Testplans, TestSpec creations and Test processes. The ability to work closely with developers, program managers and other test teams, to ensure the quality of the owned components is vital. We are looking for people with a demonstrated track record of delivering production quality software and who can “own” areas and drive features into the product. A successful candidate will have great mastery in C/C++/C# programming as well as solid understanding of basic CS concepts. The candidate must be self-driven and should have a great deal of design work in the prior experience. A passion for working closely with customers, and good communication abilities The successful candidate must have gone through a full cycle of product shipment. Knowledge in one or more of the following is a must: Business Intelligence, Online Advertising, Data Warehousing, databases, Web Services, .NET, n-tier applications BS/MS in Computer Science. | |
